Todd Martens

Vice President of Product and Customer Development

My Biography

Mr. Martens joined OIC in 2015 and is the lead architect in ensuring that OIC products exceed customer expectations.

Todd’s primary responsibility at OIC is spearheading the design and development of the value based implants and associated instruments.  Todd has 25 years of orthopaedic device experience across the full spectrum of orthopaedic disciplines, with a particular focus and penchant for trauma.  His unique background combines engineering and sales management, giving him incredible insight into the bridge between successful implant design and application.  Todd received a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University and a biomedical engineering Master’s degree from The University of California, Davis.  Todd’s unique product development achievements include the following; the design of the Synergy Hip Implant System while at Smith & Nephew, the design on the Align Cervical Plate System while with Surgical Dynamics, the design of various image guided MIS instruments for both Spine and Orthopaedic applications while with Medtronic Surgical Navigation Technologies, and the invention and subsequent development of the semi-extended tibial nailing instruments for putting tibia nails in through a femoral incision. Todd’s passion for helping people goes beyond the office and is evident in the personal time he and his wife dedicate as weekend volunteers on a mountain search and rescue team in their home state of Colorado.  In their spare time, Todd and his wife enjoy all the activities mountain-living especially trail running, mountain biking and snow biking.
